On Thursday 23rd November 2017, The University of Queensland's School of Civil Engineering hosted the Official Launch of the ARC Future Timber Hub. The Future Timber Hub, funded by the Australian Research Council is Australia's leading timber research collaboration, bringing together experts from industry, government, and academia with a shared commitment to the uptake of tall timber construction in the Pacific region.
Over the course of two days, the Advanced Engineering Building at UQ’s St Lucia campus transformed into a myriad of timber, with over 150 researchers and practitioners from all sectors of the timber and construction industries coming together to share their vision of a more sustainable future in timber. With large-scale installations, panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and research presentations taking place across several locations in both the Schools of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the event was memorable for all involved.
